Dentistry & Oral Surgery

Veterinary dentistry involves the study and treatment of diseases affecting the teeth, gums, maxilla and mandible and all the tissues in the oral cavity. Common problems encountered in this discipline include fractured teeth, periodontal and other gum diseases, malocclusions (poor alignment of teeth resulting in pain and an inappropriate bite; as illustrated by the photograph on the left, where the lower canine tooth is positioned behind the upper tooth and digging into the roof of the dog's mouth), dental caries, and oral tumours.

Treatments are available for many of these conditions, and at North Kent Referrals our dental suite is fully equipped with dental radiography, sophisticated air driven dental engine and facilities for endodontics.

Proceedures available include root canal treatment for fractured teeth, orthodontic treatments for malocclusion, total dental extractions which are indicated for certain gum diseases, removal of oral tumours and many other additional treatments.

If you are coming to see the dental clinician at North Kent Referrals we will discuss with you the options available to best solve your pet's dental and oral problems.
