Julie Redcliffe is our dedicated receptionist, Julie started her career in veterinary practice in 1996 as a part time nursing assistant and receptionist. She continued to expand her knowledge for six years before becoming a full time receptionist in general practice, and four years later, in 2005, joined North Kent Referrals.
Julie is "the face of NKR". She is often the first person that clients meet and she always endeavours to make them feel comfortable while they wait for their appointments.
Responsible for a wide range of duties; including welcoming clients, maintaining the reception area, dealing with transactions and management of the practice diary, Julie is always kept on her toes. Her three dogs, Sally, Pluto and Blue, are the loves of her life and are crucial to helping her unwind after a busy day at work.
Carolyn Carter has worked one morning a week for North Kent Referrals for five years, helping in the accounts department of the administration team. Previously she worked as a Personal Assistant in the Arts & Libraries Department of Kent County Council and then for the general manager at the Heart of Kent Hospice. She retired in October 2002 and started working at North Kent Referrals to help out with photocopying and filing and quickly progressed to accounts work.
Carolyn had a very special dog Tizzy a Wire Haired Fox Terrier who passed away a few years ago. Carolyn has since found her to be irreplaceable and instead of pampering her Carolyn now spends her time helping out with her 9 grandchildren as well as following her hobbies; creative glass, mosaics, music, writing and researching her family tree.
Debbie Prior has been at North Kent Referrals since July 2006, she now plays a crucial role in organising appointments; taking calls from referring practices and clients, and completing various office tasks for the clinical and managerial teams, you could say she has become a cornerstone of the administration department. In February 2007, Debbie attended a 2 day residential RxWorks conference in Birmingham to increase her knowledge and expertise in handling the practice data software package. This has enabled her to expand her repertoire of tasks and to data mine the facts and figures which make our lives easier.
Prior to joining our team, Debbie worked in general practice for 9 years where her roles were divided between reception duties and working as a nursing assistant. She has two cats and a young Doberman puppy that enjoys eating slippers, romantic liaisons with passing trouser legs and long walks in the countryside.
Lin Jeffreyis a qualified dental nurse of 30 years. She originally joined the practice as a locum receptionist in October 2003, whilst enjoying a break from full time nursing and toying with the idea of retiring. Lin was asked to join permanently in January 2004 and soon diversified from general administrative duties to become first point of contact for accounting enquiries and finance. Payment of invoices, credit card control and bank reconciliation of credit and debit card transactions form the basis of her working day.
Lin used to take responsibility for organizing the practice CPD evenings, bookings and catering. Her interest and previous professional capacity in catering made her the ideal person to organize and cater the practice annual BBQ for over 30 staff & partners. Lin is a keen badminton player, enjoys sport in general, and her hobbies include cooking, hosting dinner parties and theatre, which her part time position allows her plenty of time to pursue... I will add she is a magnificent cook!
Debra Randall began working at North Kent Referrals in September 2007. Since joining she has been learning the protocols for working in administration and reception; taking calls from referring veterinary practices and adding them to Rx Works; the practice database. Debbie has also assisted with the move of administration to extra offices in a nearby building, and has also spent time on reception, meeting and greeting clients.
Before joining us she worked at the Blue Cross Animal Hospital in London as an Animal Nursing Assistant which involved looking out for the welfare of patients and cleaning, sterilisation and packing all the instruments for use in the theatres. Prior to that Debbie worked at LloydsTsb for 25 years as a shift leader in their Media Library.
Debbie has three rescue dogs; a Dalmatian who is a bit of a diva, a crossbreed that just likes to play ball all day, and a Staffie that she fostered after she was involved in a road accident. 'Bea just happened to fit in so well that I had to keep her'. Last year Debbie also took on a kitten admitted by the Blue Cross that was nominated for re-homing. As Debbie works full time her pets take up most of her leisure time, but she does also like DIY, gardening and driving when time allows.
Angela Andrews joined the administration team at North Kent Referrals around the same time as Debra Randall to assist with reception duties, recieving first referrals, answering the telephones and dealing with insurance claims. She is experienced in administration work and customer relations having previously worked in a building society where she organised mortgages and savings plans.
Angela is familiar with the care and upkeep of animals, having gained qualifications in horse management whilst she was a working pupil at a busy competition livery yard and riding school. At home she has a cat called Jade who enjoys eating and sleeping and pretending to hunt birds.
Vicky Smith Gillard started working here in December 2006; initially responsible for cleaning, tidying and organising the consulting rooms at the end of the working day. However, it became apparent that she was capable of far more and started working with us as an administration assistant in February 2007, providing holiday cover and working on a part time contract dealing with the practice software, telephone enquiries, general office work and accounts.
Outside of work, Victoria exercises her creative talents in amateur dramatics and lace-making. She also has a keen interest in human and feline psychology and lives with Phoebe, a 9 year old tabby cat, who was rescued at only a day old from the kerbside and taken to the Harmsworth Animal Hospital in London.
